A message from our principal...

August 16, 2010

Welcome to RJ Neutra Elementary School, Home of the Jets and Home to some of the brightest young minds in Central California.  It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year.  Get strapped in and get ready to fly high.  The Jets are coming at you in maximum afterburn!!!

I wanted to wait until the second day to welcome you, because of all the paperwork you get the first day.  I am so excited to begin my fifth year as principal at Neutra Elementary School.  I look forward to seeing all the students that make Neutra one of the premier schools in the valley.  I also look forward to working with our wonderful parents and caring community.  I can assure you that the staff at Neutra is prepared and ready for an exciting year.

First, please join me in welcoming Mrs. Kirchman as Neutra’s new Assistant Principal.  Mrs. Kirchman joins the Central School District administrative team and will be assisting principal’s and staff’s at both Neutra and Stratford.  Mrs. Kirchman’s schedule will have her working at Stratford on Monday and Tuesday, while spending the remainder of the week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at Neutra.  Mrs. Kirchman has experience as an administrator in Hanford, but was most recently a fourth grade teacher at Akers School.  She not only brings experience to the position, but also has shown much enthusiasm and desire in helping Neutra continue to be a “school of distinction.”  She is a welcomed addition to our school.

Mrs. Gonzales will also join the Neutra staff as the new Transition Specialist.  Mrs. Gonzales will leave her current assignment as Assistant Principal at Akers School to work with the new DODEA Grant at Akers and Neutra.  She is scheduled to be at Neutra on Monday and Tuesday.  Mrs. Gonzales’s main responsibility will be assisting new families that enter the base schools.  She will assist all families transitioning into our school and will keep a watchful eye on how new students are adjusting academically, socially, and emotionally to their new surroundings.  Mrs. Gonzales will also assist with the implementation of Peaceful Playgrounds.
Our main focus, as always, will be academic excellence.  We will strive to prepare each Neutra student with the academic skills necessary to achieve at or above grade-level.  An environment where students feel safe at all times is also a high priority.  For this reason, we will begin implementing a program called Peaceful Playgrounds.  This program provides nontraditional activities for recess, as well as consistent rules and procedures for dealing with conflict.

The school setting is a perfect place to develop and practice good character traits.  We will continue to follow the six pillars from Character Counts and will again follow the ideas of being a “bucket filling school.”  Have you filled a bucket today???

The school year will bring additional co-curricular and extracurricular activities for Neutra students and parents.  Pumpkin Alley, The Twelve Days of Christmas, and Month of the Military Child will highlight community activities, along with our monthly Mileage Club Challenge Runs.  We hope these additional activities will keep students interested in school and families able to participate in the Neutra community.

Join us on the first day of school and meet Neutra’s Dancing Man.
Please contact me or my office staff if we can be of additional assistance. My e-mail address is jpartin@central.k12.ca.us or you can contact us by telephone at 998-6823.

Respectfully,
Mr. Partin, Principal

R.J. Neutra School's mission is, “Move into the future, but treasure our heritage.” With this as our mission, we have made a commitment to provide the best educational program possible for our students. The excellent quality of our program is a reflection of our highly committed staff.

The staff, in partnership with parents, will work toward effectively preparing our children to live in the world as it will exist in the future. We believe that much of the work our children will do in the twenty-first century is not yet determined. We strive, therefore, to prepare aerial viewchildren to be lifelong learners, to think critically, to be problem solvers, and to learn from past experiences. The staff and parents envision Neutra School as a place of growth for the total child: intellectual, emotional, social, ethical, and physical. Our school is where individual needs are recognized so that every student may experience success within an atmosphere of warmth, mutual respect, and caring. We monitor, adjust, and thus increase student achievement.

We renew this commitment yearly in hopes that together, we will continue to improve our effectiveness in edifying students of today, preparing them to become productive citizens of tomorrow. It is in light of this fact, that we welcome any suggestions, ideas, or comments you may have. Parents can contact us at 998-6823 or through our home page address www.central.k12.ca.us/neutra.
