Welcome to Central Union School District’s Preschool,

Central Union School District, in contract with Kings County Office of Education, provides half-day preschool services to eligible three and four year-old children. Two sessions, each with a 24-student capacity, are held at Akers School, one session, 24-student capacity, at Central School and one session, 16-student capacity, at Stratford School.

Through funding from the State of California, Child Development Division, preschool services are provided free of charge based upon priority and eligibility requirements set by the State of California.

For families interested in preschool, the first step is to print and complete the "Preschool Interest Sheet" located on the left side of this page. Once that is completed, return the sheet and documentation of current month income by:

Fax: 559 924-1153

Email: tcardoza@central.k12.ca.us

This information may also be taken to any school site and it will be forwarded to the District Office.

If this information cannot be printed and returned, the information may be taken over the telephone. The telephone number is 559 925-2615.

As vacancies occur, families will be contacted from information submitted on the interest sheet. If called, parents will be asked to provide further documentation.

Central Union School District does not discriminate on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic group identification, race ancestry, national origin, religion, color, or mental or physical disability in determining which children are served. We welcome the enrollment of children with disabilities and understand the requirement of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to make reasonable accommodations for such children and implement those accommodations.

The pre-kindergarten years are a time when children's brains are rapidly developing. Pre-kindergarten is a time for children to learn about self-control, curiosity, cooperation, paying attention, and other skills that will prepare them for their K-12 education”.
